Music of Éliane Radigue with Quatuor Bozzini
The encounter between QB and Radigue points to the challenging nature of auditory availability in Radigue’s music. Yet, as one may experience while listening to this set, such acute awareness transfers to all listeners of Radigue’s music: Radigue’s sound holds the potential to shake expectations regarding performance, listening, and music making.

There’s a Yearnin’: Wildebeest Wind Quintet with Jeff Lederer and Mary LaRose
There’s a Yearnin’ shines a light on notated compositions for winds by Ornette Coleman, Eric Dolphy, and Oliver Nelson. This performance will mark the world premiere of a woodwind sextet by Dolphy which was found in the Library of Congress archives. The set also features Ornette Coleman’s Forms and Sounds quintets and saxophonist/clarinetist Lederer’s arrangements of compositions by Oliver Nelson with original lyrics by vocalist Mary LaRose. Also included is the premiere of Lederer’s own new work Cruxifiction (not a word).” The Wildebeest Wind Quintet is: Michel Gentile (flute), Katie Scheele (oboe), Mike McGuiness (clarinet), Sara Schoenbeck (bassoon) and Nathan Koci (horn).

Julius Hemphill Music for Six Saxophones led by Marty Ehrlich
Marty Ehrlich is the chief researcher of the Julius Hemphill Archive at New York University, and performed with Hemphill over a twenty-year period, as a member of the Julius Hemphill Big Band and the Julius Hemphill Saxophone Sextet. He continued the work of the Sextet for a decade after Hemphill’s death in 1995, keeping these seminal compositions before the public.

For Living Lovers is the duo of acoustic guitarist Brandon Ross and acoustic bass guitarist Stomu Takeishi. Founded in 2002, the duo has been critically acclaimed for its unique sonic language and musical direction.

Sarah Hennies and Tristan Kasten-Krause
The duo of Tristan Kasten-Krause and Sarah Hennies works collaboratively to compose large-scale compositions employing drones, psychoacoustic phenomena, and extended techniques on double bass and an array of gongs, bells, vibraphone, and other percussion instruments. Their work includes delicate interplay of high-pitched tones, deep resonances, and patient, slowly unfolding extended durations that evoke a mysterious sonic landscape.

Shoko Nagai and Satoshi Takeishi - VORTEX
VORTEX features Shoko Nagai (piano, accordion, analog synthesizers, electronics) and Satoshi Takeishi (playing a unique “hybrid set” consisting of both western and eastern traditional percussion instruments). Their blend of acoustic instruments and electronic processing create a vivid sonic world.

2026 Healing Arts New York Network Convening with Brooklyn Music School
The Healing Arts New York Network of the Jameel Arts & Health Lab is proud to announce the next stop of the 2026 Healing Arts Boro Tour at the historic Brooklyn Music School on April 13, 2026.
Hosted at one of the longest-running performing arts organizations in Brooklyn, together we will gather artists, administrators, clinicians, and public health workers to highlight Brooklyn-based opportunities and programs.
A conversation, "The Healing Power of the Arts" will feature a discussion aimed at examining the healing properties that music and community building can create in society, moderated by Licensed Creative Arts Therapist, Deborah Douek, featuring Artist and Creative Consultant, Stephen Sheffer. There will be time for refreshments, networking, and an experiential offering featuring Katie Down, LCAT, MT-BC and Jane Rigler, Ph.D., Co-directors of the Arts & Wellbeing Gathering: a consortium of professional artists and healing arts practitioners. Each will offer an experience focused on the theme of “Whole Listening for Wellbeing.”

Newsies Movie Screening
Join us as we host a community screening of Newsies Jr. in the playhouse! Come grab popcorn, dim the lights, and watch the original Newsies from 1992. Audience members will also get to catch a sneak peek performance from the Brooklyn Music School cast of Newsies Jr. before the movie! We will be selling snacks and beverages, as well as opening up ticket sales to our May production after the screening. Please note - all children must be accompanied by an adult.

12th Annual Middle School Jazz Fest
Our annual Middle School Jazz Festival is back for another all-day marathon of all things jazz! This year, we are honored to have acclaimed jazz pianist and composer Helen Sung join us as our guest artist. Led by our Dean of Faculty Jeff Newell, the day will include performances by participating schools, clinics by BMS Jazz Faculty, a performance and Q&A by Helen with the BMS Faculty, and a final jam session for all students and faculty in our playhouse. CHIARA D’ODORICO
Internationally acclaimed pianist Chiara D’Odorico invites you to embark on a captivating musical
journey in her recital “CONTRASTS – European & South American Sounds.”
This program explores a fascinating dialogue between contrasting yet deeply interconnected musical
worlds, featuring works by European and South American composers — with a special focus on
Paraguayan music — spanning from the 18th to the 21st century. Several of these pieces will receive
their United States premieres during this concert.
The repertoire highlights the dynamic interplay between solo piano and four-hand works, revealing
expressive contrasts and unexpected harmonies that transcend time and geography.
More than a celebration of classical music’s diversity, this recital offers a rare opportunity to discover
hidden gems of Paraguayan repertoire in conversation with European masterpieces.
For the four-hand pieces, Argentine pianist David Lonardi will join as Guest Artist.

Chiara D’Odorico is considered one of the most internationally recognised South American pianists, honoured with numerous awards highlighting her artistic career, including "Tourism Ambassador of Paraguay," "Artífices del Cambio Award: Women who Innovate and Create," "Outstanding Youth of Paraguay," and the "National Youth Award" presented by the President of the Republic. D’Odorico maintains an intense musical activity both as a soloist and with orchestras, regularly performing in countries such as Brazil, Colombia, the United States, Germany, Italy, France, the Vatican, Spain, Austria, Russia, South Africa, Lebanon and India. Committed to promoting and disseminating the music of her country, she has presented and premiered works by Paraguayan composers on various international stages. She has three albums: “Purahéi che retãgua” (nominated for the Gardel Awards 2020 for Best Classical MusicAlbum), “Ofrenda a mi tierra” and “Añoranza”.
In her role as an educator, she has trained many children and young people from various countries. She has given master classes in Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador, Mexico, the United States, Paraguay, and Argentina, and has served as a jury member in children's and youth piano competitions.
