A Day at Camp…
Our Summer Intensives take place on weekdays from 9:00am - 3:30pm with an Extended Day option (pickup at 6pm). The drop off window is between 8:00 - 9:00am and instruction begins promptly at 9:15am. The day consists of four periods focusing on their area of the arts, with an optional fifth class during Extended Day. These periods will consist of rehearsal time, skill building, and the introduction of more advanced concepts. There is snack time and lunch time (students need to bring their own food), and students will also have the opportunity to play at the local park (weather permitting). See a sample schedule of the day below!
NEW Two-Week Format!
We have divided the Summer into 3 two-week sessions! Programming will alternate from session to session; for example, if the students have Piano in Session One, they may switch to Loog Guitar in Session Two. This allows students to get a broad overview of the arts so they can hone in on their talents and passion!
On the first Friday of each session, students will have the opportunity to go on field trips to places such as the American Museum of Natural History, the New York Transit Museum, and more! On the second Friday of each session, students will showcase what they’ve learned in classes in a performance onstage at the BMS Playhouse!
To get the most out of this experience we recommend that students sign up for the two-week sessions so they will end their experience with an onstage performance.

FAQ
-
Children ages 9-12 can register. For children ages 5-8, we have our Summer Institute.
-
Previous experience is preferred, but the curriculum is flexible and inclusive. Some Intensives such as Jazz and Orchestra lend themselves better to students who have basic music reading skills and proficiency on their instrument. Other Intensives such as Rock Band and Dance are more flexible for a wide range of skills. If you have questions about which Intensive is right for your child please reach out to Sherrine Mostin at smostin@brooklynmusicschool.org.

Drop off is between 8:00am - 9:00am
-
No, you do not have to register for every week. You may select the weeks you would like to register for, although for the best experience possible we recommend students sign up for the two-week sessions outlined above.
-
No, our curriculum is organized so that any students registered to begin in the middle of summer will have a smooth transition. All classes are introductory and classes will change from session to session. For example, hip hop might change to African dance from Session One to Session Two. For the best experience possible, we recommend that students sign up for a full two-week session.
