Liederabend 2018: Serenade to Brooklyn

Featuring new works by Brooklyn composers, Brooklyn Opera Works’ 3rd annual Art Song Recital “Serenade to Brooklyn” celebrates the unique and deeply personal perspectives of artists from around the globe.

The program will feature works by young Iranian composer Niloufar Nourbakhsh, Mexican composer Pamela Martinez, Israeli Alon Nechushtan and songs by Tajikistani composer Alisher Latif-Zade, all of whom are esteemed faculty at BMS. Combined with classical poetry, the diverse musical and poetic narratives transcend cultural barriers by highlighting the universality of human experiences.

The program will be hosted by the Award-winning composer and BMS’s Artistic Advisory Board member Christopher Cerrone, who’s song cycle “I Will Learn to Love a Person” will be showcased in the recital.

Mr. Cerrone’s powerful work “All Wounds Bleed” was featured this Summer by BOW’s Summer Vocal Arts Program.
