Brooklyn Music School’s Spring Gala

6 - 9 pm
Festive Attire
Join us on May 6th at the Space at Irondale for our annual gala, Unforgettable History; Unstoppable Future. This year, we’re celebrating you. Without our community of dedicated students, parents, alumni, supporters, board, faculty, staff, and generations before us, we would not be here today.
Founded in 1909, Brooklyn Music School has been a cornerstone of the performing arts in Brooklyn. From our inception, the institution has stood on a foundation of making performing arts education accessible to everyone.
For 116 years, our little school has been uplifted by our neighbors in Fort Greene, the borough of Brooklyn, and the City of New York. The past century has witnessed BMS evolving, growing, and sticking to the values set forth by our founders. The 20 trustees who brought about a charter of incorporation with the State of New York on May 2nd, 1912, only helped cement the foundation we stand on today.
May 6th will bring about the people who continue building upon that foundation. The evening will include hors d’oeuvres, cocktails, and special performances by our students and faculty, and bear a toast to people who have uplifted this community.
Please use the form above to purchase sponsorships or tickets. If you need any additional materials or seek a custom package, please contact Knox Martin, Director of Development, at kmartin@brooklynmusicschool.org.

Brooklyn Music School is delighted to announce our first honoree for the May 6th gala! Rasu Jilani has been an essential member of Brooklyn’s cultural fabric for over a decade. Most recently, he was named Executive Director of Brooklyn Arts Council, where he drives initiatives that support local artists and advance racial and social justice.
“Rasu has been an incredible leader in the Brooklyn arts community. We are beyond excited to celebrate his accomplishments with you in May!” said BMS Executive Director Brian Adamczyk.
Jilani co-founded Men at Work Healing, a project that redefines masculinity, and Coup d’Etat BROOKLYN, a collective that elevates local creatives. His experience extends to serving as the Director of Recruiting and Community Engagement at NEW INC, the New Museum’s art and tech incubator, where he fostered a diverse blend of tech, art, and entrepreneurial talents. His work has earned accolades, such as the Mellon Civic Arts and Humanities Fellowship and the New Museum’s IdeasCity Civic Fellowship. Named one of Brooklyn Magazine’s 50 most fascinating people in 2023, Jilani significantly shapes Brooklyn’s cultural and technological landscapes.
