Trumpeter Terell Stafford—hailed as “one of the great players of our time, a fabulous trumpet player” by piano legend McCoy Tyner—will be the guest artist at the 10th Annual Brooklyn Music School Middle School Jazz Fest.
Since the mid-1990’s Terell has performed with a dazzling array of legendary jazz groups and is currently a member of the Grammy-winning Vanguard Jazz Orchestra. Stafford can be heard on over 130 albums including his own, BrotherLee Love, Celebrating Lee Morgan, which received a 47th Annual NAACP Image Award nomination. The 2024 BMS Middle School Jazz Festival will include performances by Terell Stafford with the Brooklyn Music School Jazz Faculty, the Ocean Hill Collegiate Charter School Jazz Band, Brooklyn Friends Middle School Jazz Ensemble, Salute to Music All-City Middle School Jazz Band, NEST+M Middle School Jazz Band, and the Berkeley Carrol Middle School Jazz Bands. There will also be workshops for brass, woodwind, and rhythm sections as well as clinics on Listening to Jazz and Jazz Evolution.
