Sergio Lapedota
About
Sergio Lapedota, pianist and conductor, has enjoyed a concert career that has led him to perform on European, American, and Russian stages. Selected by Riccardo Muti as one of the best conductors and repetiteurs, he served under the maestro’s baton to prepare productions of Cavallerria Ruscicana and I Pagliacci at the Italian Opera Academy in Ravenna. He has received awards in several national and international competitions and performed in important piano festivals in Italy, including the Scriabin Sonatas marathon, Beethoven Sonatas and Concerti festival, and the Dino Ciani Festival.
An active soloist, chamber musician, and conductor, Mr. Lapedota has collaborated as guest conductor with several orchestras like Pazhardjik Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra giovanile “L. Cherubini”, I Musici di Parma, Cameristi del Maggio musicale fiorentino, Orchestra Toscana Classica, Youth Symphony Orchestra of Saint Petersburg, Orchestra filarmonica pugliese, Bari Conservatory symphony orchestra, and with soloists like sopranos B. Kuru, A. Pintossi, F. Di Sauro, tenor A. Zada, baritones I. Onishchenko, S. Vasile, cellist G. Grassi, clarinetist J. Paredes, pianist A. Partipilo.
Lapedota's essays on philosophic, aesthetic, and analytical aspects of piano and symphonic repertoirs, published by Oceano Edizioni (Bari), LIM (Milano), and Levante Editori (Bari), led the Accademia delle Arti e Scienze filosofiche in Bari to award him with a fellowship. Among current projects in which he is involved there are the recording of the complete piano works of Swedish composer Valborg Aulin and co-founding Nikolaos chamber new music festival in Mira, Turkey.
He served at NYU Steinhardt School of Music as Adjunct faculty from 2012 to 2014, after which he has been employed as Piano instructor for the Italian Ministry of Education. He holds degrees from Bari Conservatory and New York University.
