Fatima Bawah (she/they) is a multifaceted teaching artist, administrator, and theatre artist based in Brooklyn, NY. With a degree in Acting, Vocal Music, and Psychology, and a deep commitment to fostering creative expression, Fatima brings a wealth of experience to the classroom. Currently, Fatima serves as the Arts Reaching Youth Director at Brooklyn Music School, where they are dedicated to cultivating a nurturing and inclusive environment for all young artists. With a proven track record of nurturing young talent, Fatima creates empowering spaces for students to explore and develop their artistic voices. Fatima’s recent directorial credits include Matilda this past spring at Brooklyn Music School, The Rocky Horror Picture Show with Betka Pope Productions, He and She at Aquinas College, and Godspell Jr. at St. Thomas. As a performer, they have taken on roles such as Joanne Jefferson in Rent at Circle Theatre, Chiffon in Little Shop of Horrors at Circle Theatre, Tituba in The Crucible at Shadblow Theatre, and Ensemble/Mama Euralie understudy in Once on this Island at GR Civic Theatre. Dedicated to creating safe and supportive spaces for artists of all backgrounds, Fatima has served on the board of BAM (Black Art Matters) for two years, championing the flourishing of POC artists. Their teaching philosophy emphasizes diversity, inclusion, and the power of storytelling, aiming to inspire the next generation of artists to find their unique voices and make meaningful contributions to the world of theatre and beyond.
